BACKGROUND:Here.

PERSONALITY:

Peepers has a bit of a Napoleon complex. Okay, like, more than a bit. But it's not entirely unfounded, either. Being in the Evil Villain business isn't a nice place to be to begin with, but it's even more so when the other villains are stronger, bigger, and scarier than a one-foot tall eyeball-guy. Peepers is frequently discredited, beaten up, and otherwise bullied for his size (and also, his intelligence).

But what Peepers lacks in height, he makes up for in sheer willpower. He's been determined since the day he was born to be Better than everyone, and he continues to work tirelessly towards that goal. He's highly intelligent, able to construct complicated plans, write up blueprints for new weapons and devices, sharpshooting, knows how to pilot various forms of spaceships- essentially, any subject he thought he'd need to prove he's The Best Planet Conquerer, he's studied up on it.

Unfortunately, this alone was not enough. Peepers knew he needed something other villains could fear, and respect. That something came in the form of a powerful (but easily distracted and unmotivated) skeleton named Hater. Together, with his smarts and Hater's ability to intimidate, they formed an alliance that helped them both out. Peepers was finally managing to hold a modicum of power and respect, but only as Hater's second-in-command. While it wasn't his goal, it was enough to work with.

Peepers is known to many as the real commanding force amongst the Hater Empire, given that their leader is essentially only in it to be thought of as evil, cool, and to get attention. The Watchdogs- who are the numerous foot soldiers that make up Hater's army- are the species of alien that Peepers belongs to, and all share the same two features of being short, and having a large singular red eye for a head. However, it seems most Watchdogs are also exceedingly stupid, and easy to command- except for Peepers, of course.

Even though he's not considered the main antagonist in the same way Hater is (especially in season 1), he is essentially the main cause and perpetrator of threats to planets and their civilians that Wander and Sylvia (the protagonists) work to stop. As shown in the episode "The Axe," there is more to conquering planets than simply showing up, beating up the native alien race's army, stealing their king's crown, and putting up a bunch of giant statues (which is exactly what Hater did, when left on his own). Until Peepers was (temporarily) fired from his position, he had always been the one quietly handling the job of the details like leaving behind a battalion of soldiers to enforce their rule and establish infrastructure. Hater was almost immediately reminded of how much he needs the other to help run things, and made a half-assed attempt at an apology. It was good enough.

Despite Peepers' original partnership with Hater as being strictly professional, between a Power-Hungry-Eyeball-Man and his Big And Scary Skeleton Boss Who Will Electrocute Him Without A Second Thought… over time, things changed. It started with Peepers eventually standing up to being bullied by Hater, realizing that despite their positions as "leader" and "commander," he knows that without guidance, Hater is essentially as useful as a frat boy in a business meeting. That, paired with the instances where Peepers failed to accomplish a job (like capture Wander), and Hater failed to finish a conquest (usually due to Wander). Both had, multiple times, found themselves on the losing side when faced against Wander's endless cheerfulness and do-gooding. Through this, they both begin to realize they need each other as more than a simple alliance- they need each other's friendship and cooperation to work together better. Of course, Hater continues to deny their friendship the whole time, because Wander's number one favorite thing is friendship, but come on. The password to the ship's main controls is "hater and peepers forever" in leet. They wear matching best-friend necklaces. It's stupid.

Being Second-In-Command is a difficult job- but it's an even harder one when Peepers is essentially the only one on the Skull Ship doing anything productive. If he isn't drawing up new plans, he's organizing more efficiencies for the ship, checking the intergalactic database for planets to control, and even making Hater breakfast in the morning. Really, he's like a mom-friend, except his children are Hater and the thousand-plus Watchdog soldiers, and he's very angry about it, all the time. He's been overworked since episode one, but it's only once Lord Dominator enters the scene and poses a huge threat that he actually begins to show signs of being tired from pulling all-nighters to think up plans to stop her. Even with all his efforts, he's hardly ever appreciated by his fellow Watchdogs (who fear him more than respect him), and Hater (who doesn't fear OR respect him), and is mostly seen as a huge hardass.

One can imagine that with said lack of respect, even from those who should at least like him more than the people he helps conquer, it's not a surprise he's frequently impatient and frustrated. By this point, his short-temper is less a "personality quirk" and more a "default state." It doesn't help that Hater has just as short a temper as he does, but it triggers over even more nonsensical things.

Because of how much responsibility is placed on him in his position, it's a good thing Peepers is also the most mature one on the whole Skull Ship. Even the most boring of jobs like organizing meetings, delegating work, and ordering out lunch for everyone on the whole ship, he'll do it. Just part of the job! And if he doesn't do it, no one else will. That's actually more of a motivator than anything else. Competence is something that is a real rarity amongst others, in Peeper's life.

…But that maturity can only go so far. There are plenty of times when Peepers has thrown a full-blown tantrum, both in the privacy of his own room, and sometimes… like, in front of people. Literally, kicking his feet into the air, and crying in the middle of a room full of Watchdogs. It was horrible. For everyone.

ABILITIES: Overall, Peepers doesn't have any supernatural or alien-like abilities, despite being an alien. He's a good shot with a gun (specifically, a laser one), and is for some reason totally ripped (probably because he realized that he would at some point need to be able to carry Hater and run with him if need be), but that's about the end of it, besides his intelligence.

INVENTORY: His outfit, his helmet, red cellphone, blaster gun.
